Houghton Hall, a Chilton link.

A reader of the blog has written to inform me that Robert Walpole the first Prime Minister, and the builder of Houghton Hall, about whom I wrote last week, was a great grandson of Robert Crane of Chilton Hall.

All roads seem to lead to Chilton one way or another!
