Library books for the housebound

At Nedging and Naughton Parish Council meeting last week  I was asked whether there is any help available for readers who, due to disability, are unable to get down to their local library.  I contacted Debbie Roots, the librarian at Lavenham Library for advice.

I understand from Debbie that there are in fact a number of volunteers attached to each library who will fetch books and deliver them to people in their homes.  Each library has a list of volunteers and if you, or someone you know, would like to use this service the librarian should be able to help you.

There is always a need for new volunteers, and not every area is covered.  If you are interested in helping in this way a library near you will be pleased to hear from you!  You need to have a car, or have someone willing to drive you.  The minimum time commitment is one morning or afternoon a month.
