Supporting older and vulnerable people to help them to stay in their homes for as long as possible is a priority for the County Council. At present however there are some problems. Our ageing community means that more and more demand is being put on care at home services at a time when funding is an issue. The current model of delivery is too inflexible, not always meeting the needs of those for whom it is designed.
As a result The County Council is now a little way through a consultation about how home care and meals might be delivered more effectively across Suffolk in the future.
If you are someone receiving care, a family member, a care provider, or an interested member of the public, you can make a contribution to this process. To see how to participate go to the Suffolk County Council website by clicking here.
In the Babergh area two information events are being held at which you discuss the issues involved with council representatives.
Sudbury Library. Monday 25th November, 10 a.m. until 12 noon
Hadleigh Library Wednesday 18th December 10 a.m. until 12 noon
Lavenham Library Thursday 19th December 10 a.m. until 12 noon
Following the consultation, which closes in early January, the responses will be analysed and considered by the Cabinet early in 2014. No changes will be made to the current system until the views of the community have been taken into account.
