I was really delighted to read
that Hollow Trees Farm Shop in Semer has won a prestigious national award.
I find that the shop is an
absolute godsend when the cupboard at home is bare and I need something good for
supper when on my way home from Ipswich or Hadleigh.
I really like the feeling that you are on a proper farm while you are
shopping for first class fresh meat, fresh veg and other delicious goods. The café is also a useful refuelling point
when I am out and about in the Division.
The enterprise has been named 2016 National Farm Retail Champions by FARMA, the national association for ‘the best farm shops and farmers’ markets across the UK’.
I understand that FARMA’s
standards are very high and that awards are by no means easy to come by!
In giving
the award the judges commented: ‘Hollow Trees Farm
does everything that retailing in a farm shop or market needs and it does it
extremely well. All parts of this long running, but still expanding business
are very well run with the staff really involved in creating the atmosphere and
feel of the place. All of the many different activities seem to complement each
other, showcasing their own produce, local produce and the countryside as a
whole."
Apparently the trophy is a very large fork which will be displayed on
the premises. As the owners say in their
recent newsletter:-
‘It is
a great testament to all the team plus all our wonderful customers who support
Hollow Trees, that a small farm in a tiny village can bring home such a BIG
award!’
