Mark Bills, the new Director of Gainsborough's House, will be appearing in two television programmes on Sunday and Monday, 14th and 15th April.
He will be featured on Countryfile on Sunday, and although there is no footage of Gainsborough's House, Mark will be talking about Gainsborough and there are likely to be shots of Sudbury and the surrounding countryside.
In contrast to the rural delights of Sudbury, The One Show at 7 p.m. on Monday will feature Mark with Giles Brandreth discussing William Powell Frith's urban masterpiece, The Railway Station .
Some years ago Mark, while working at the Museum of London, organised a memorable exhibition of Frith's monumental works. Gainsborough's House Friends took a coach up to London to see it. The show was a revelation to those of us who did not know much about this remarkable Victorian painter of nineteenth century scenes.
