The Ship in Southampton prior to departure |
The next event at Little Waldingfield History Society is
just a few days away on 18th March in the Parish Room.
The talk by James Hayward is entitled ‘Ship of Dreams’. It
will relate the story of East Anglians caught up in the most famous maritime
disaster in history.
James is a lawyer by profession, and he was educated in
Ipswich and St John’s College, Oxford.
Work undertaken with the performing arts led James to work on a Broadway
production of the musical Titanic. This
resulted in a fascination with the story of the doomed ship which led to research about the experiences of passengers and members of the crew with local
connections.
LWHS events are open to members and non-members (£2 and £4
respectively) and last about an hour followed by tea/coffee with biscuits when
there is the chance to share memories, thoughts and ideas with like-minded
individuals in a very sociable environment.
Tickets can be purchased in advance from Di Langford (01787
248298) or Sue Sheppard 01787 247980)
Parking is available in Church Road.
