One of my jobs as the Assistant Portfolio Holder for Health and Adult Social Care is to do the jobs that the Portfolio Holder can't manage due to his very full diary. So far they have all been both interesting and entertaining.
Last week I went to 'mark the start' of construction of the new Davers Court Nursing Home in Bury. I am photograped here, suitably kitted up on site, with the site manager and the Regional Operations Director for Care UK, Chris Hopkinson.
The Care Home will accommodate some 60 residents, and will provide nursing as well as residential care. Adjacent to the Home will be a wellbeing centre for the local community. This will offer a range of clubs and activities for local residents.
Davers Court is one of ten new Care Homes and wellbeing centres that are being developed by the County Council with Care UK at a cost of £60m.
