I was pleased to receive news from Elmsett that newly installed high speed broadband is working well so far.
As far as I am aware no problems have been reported in Whatfield either, and there are indications that Little Waldingfield will be linked into the super fast system sooner than originally anticipated too.
In order to take advantage of the super fast speeds residents will need to purchase appropriate packages. There are a number of sites where different deals can be compared. Simply google 'super fast broadband deals'. and take it from there.
Recently received additional government funding will mean that the County Council will be able to take super fast speeds to more than 85% of Suffolk in due course, a target of 95% now looking achieveable in time. Everywhere will be guaranteed a minimum of 2 mps by the end of 2015, but steps are now being taken to see how even the most remote parts of the county, the final 5%, can be helped to access faster speeds.

Don't be misled into thinking all of Elmsett can access this '"super fast" broadband - we cannot.!!
ReplyDeleteIf you let me know where you are I can try to find out when you might be able to. I appreciate that not everywhere in Elmsett is yet linked up, and more remote parts may have to wait some time1
DeleteIt's not just remote parts of Elmsett that don't have this option. Half the houses on The Street (within a stone's throw of the new cabinet) do not have superfast available, nor any communication or information as to when and if it will be.
ReplyDeleteJenny, The issue is Exchange Only lines not remoteness!
ReplyDelete2014 is nearly over and there is still no communication or update on how those of us with houses linked directly to the Offton exchange are going to benefit from any of this, even though we are expected to pay the same line rental and rates as neighbours whose properties now receive a service many times greater (not to mention the potential impact on house values).
