I know how difficult it is to win one of these awards having struggled to nominate people in the past!
Lizzie has won an award for young people of 18 years or under who have made an outstanding contribution to the local community.
I can do no better, I think, than reproduce the part of the Awards Programme that describes Lizzie's achievements:
Lizzie
Anderson has been an active member and volunteer of the ‘Acton & Waldingfield
Cub Scouts’ since 2005. She was the only girl in her first year as a
member of the Cub Scouts; this did not deter her from performing to the best of
her abilities in all the challenges and activities put before her. She
became a positive role model to her peers and helped encourage other girls to
join the group and there is now a thriving female membership in all three
sections.
In
the last five years Lizzie has devoted most of her spare time to the Cubs,
partaking in the camping activities, helping teach art, crafts and traditional
scouting skills, as well as fundraising initiatives. Lizzie does this
whilst she juggles all other daily responsibilities of, school work, playing
hockey and her job at the Kingfisher leisure Centre. Lizzie is described
as a “loyal, hardworking and a committed individual who has a positive impact
on her local community”. Lizzie has recently embarked upon her formal
Scout Association Young Leader Training.
